A Mom bakes the greatest cookies as they are packed with love. Let me tell you every Mom I’ve known believes that! Or I just love cookies! No, they bake the cookies and their machines know what makes the cookies good and they focus on that. When they do that special “Mom” cookie stuff they feel the love and exude the love as they slave away in the kitchen hardly knowing they are working. All they know is they love and they are loved!
That’s just the way habit machines work. The experience is attached to the machine. The experience actually locks in the special feature. When a person runs their machine, they can’t help but feel the experience and do the special thing. Mom’s make beds, clean house, wash clothes and all those experience and special things are locked in. When she then tries to show this to her spouse. Oh, this is sad. The husband gets told how to do the thing without all the important juice and locked in “love” experience. Do this, and this, then this! Why? It all seems so unnecessary (I did refrain from saying stupid). The Mom can’t believe how uncaring and wrong the husband is.
When people share their religion, it’s all up in the air in empty words, logic and rituals. To them it is so meaningful and give so much joy and satisfaction., but it is empty and hollow to the person they are sharing.
Teachers love their field. They feel and know the importance of all that they do and yet their students say why? Parents are indoctrinated with manners, housekeeping, work, being responsible and kids go why? All this is empty, until they get out in the world and all of a sudden it makes sense. All of a sudden the empty events, ways and things takes on a whole new perspective. All of a sudden juice, meaning is infused, something they missed.
A fat person goes on a diet and has no clue what a thin person does, thinks or feels and they don’t care. They just want to be thin. They don’t want to be a thin person, they just want a thin body. What do they do and why? Who cares, I’ll force this fat machine to be thin, a least until I get a significant other. Then we will grow fat together!
A young lady that smokes and drinks, all of a sudden finds out she is pregnant. She in the blink of an eye is no longer a smoker or a drinker. She is an expectant MOM! She knows exactly what a pregnant person does and WHY! WOW! The “do” and the “why” are coming together. That is the 21 day or 66 day miracle for habit formation. Now, not just a casual understanding of why. Not an educate knowing of a thousand ways to become wealthy or thin, No, a deep in your soul knowing and feeling! There is no second guessing. No, I’m pregnant until I can get the test to be negative.
Hey, does that mean forming habits is easy? Piece of cake? ….. Maybe there needs to be some information and “Sales” prep needed? Marketing might be the long term indoctrination of a person, that allows the sell to go smoothly: for habit formation to go smoothly. How do you market the action and the meaning? It’s like marketing is the casual sharing of information, such that no barriers, fences or defenses are raised. To hit someone with a foreign idea, raises these defenses and this is what sales are often related to. Marketing gets the information in there and slowly adds relatable meaning. It adds the juice slowly, but it adds the juice. The thing, the words, the action have juice. When the time is right, it’s time to make a decision. Sales is helping the person get off the fence and take action with commitment. Take the first step, make the payments, follow the path, ……. Etc.
Why is school so important? It’s supposed to be important because it makes for a better life for its people. If you are a teacher, does it feel that way to you? Are you selling this to your children? If your a student, does it feel that way? Are they supposed to do it with just faith and trust in their elders? They say it’s important, but it seems so stupid. When am I ever going to use math, or history, or that much grammer? It all seems to empty and just plain stupid.
Getting out in the real world smartens up a lot of non-believers in school. Sometimes it’s the military for some to start to believe in training and discipline. School has long been the safe protected place where students aren’t exposed to being failures and incapable. We spoon feed them the information and they still can’t get it. There heart just isn’t into it. They get out in the world and they blame society, the government, their parents and it’s not for the spoonfeeding, No, it’s for not allowing their heart and soul to get sold on the importance. They don’t get how to make things important. They don’t have the habit machinery to get them into commitment and action: the marketing and sales habit machinery! When was the last time you sold yourself on doing something amazing?
How do you make things important? Is marriage important? How about contributing? How do you make things important, like the the young lady, that finds herself pregnant. She knows what to do and the importance of it. We humans can be real smart, but unless we attach importance and meaning, nothing happens. How do you market and sell this importance thing?
Marketing and selling is for many of us the same thing as a “LIE”! We are afraid of selling. We have defenses for it. We are on the lookout for it and avoid it at all costs. We resolve, not to be sold. We don’t like salespeople and don’t ever want to be a sales person. Sales is a dastardly horrible thing to do and be. Sales, YUK!
We will be like the people we hang around with. This is a statistics and a predictor that parents take seriously. They watch who their kids hang around with. It’s these people that we hang with, we let our defenses down and make it easy. We get marketed and sold on what they believe and why. The best way to get kids to like their vegetables is for them to hang around with kids that love their vegetables.
Do we sell ourselves? We say no, but we sell ourselves all the time. We just aren’t aware and definitely not in charge of it. Our culture, society, our hang arounds are influencing us all the time for their reason and we get sold. We don’t even know it. We are blissfully thinking it’s just the truth and it’s the “truth” that supports their cause. ….. Your cause? No, their cause. That makes it a “LIE” for your cause. WOW and you have been sold on their cause, hook, line and sinker!
Do you have Values, Dreams and Goals? Could you write them down in the next half hour? Do you review them frequently? Do you find little things you are doing that are getting you closer to them? Are you even looking for those things? Do you even know what those things are or what the paths to your Values Dreams and Goals are? …. Are you something like the fat person on a diet, not wanting to know or even caring, what a thin person really does, thinks or feels?
